welcometocarolworld
I am a photographer and writer of poetry and prose. I have lived in LaPorte County for over 30 years. Recently, semi-retired, I closed my antique store in downtown LaPorte after nearly 29 years.
About 10 years ago, I experienced several traumatic events. In order to heal, and grieve, I picked up a digital camera, and started writing. It has changed my life, hence, the phrase "Welcome to Carol World...life as I see it!"
As a photographer, I have won numerous awards since 2011, and was selected to the 2014 Hoosier Women's Artists, where my cardinal photo, The Jury Is Out, was on display in the Lieutenant Governor's Office for a calendar year.
I exhibit in Juried Shows and Art Galleries in Michigan, Indiana, and Illinois. Recently, "Adieu!" was accepted to the 4th Annual Bridgeport Competition Exhibit at the Bridgeport Art Center in Chicago, and "Ruminations" to Morpho Gallery in Chicago. The photograph, "Adieu!", of a dying mermaid, won first place, and "Saddle Sore" won second place, in the Click Photography Show, November 2015, at Southern Shore Art Association, 724 Franklin, Michigan City, IN.
Performance Art is also something I enjoy. I have been found regularly on stage at the Acorn Theater, Three Oaks, Michigan, Paul Henry's Art Gallery, in Hammond, and The Front Porch, in Valparaiso with my original compositions. I have also been fortunate enough to perform at the Poetry Slam at the Lubeznik Center for the Arts, in Michigan City, the Purdue North Central Poetry Palooza, and on the historic stage of The Green Mill, in Chicago.
I am now showing at Catchlight Studio, 617 Franklin, Michigan City. It is part of FADA, the Franklin Art District Artists, a collective of great artists creating amazing art. My studio is open First Fridays, and by chance or appointment.
